The ghost town is the scenic spot I’m looking forward to in the Xinjiang line. However, due to the time relationship, it is only possible to walk away from the horse and to rush and to regret it. The ghost town, also known as the Uri, is located in the downstream Ural mine area of the Jiamusi River in the northwest of the Zhagel basin, and the southwest is about 100km away from the Kelamayi.
“Devil City” is a wind-eroded Yadan landform, unique and strange shape, the cheap flights to hongkong local Mongolians call the city “Sulumhak”, the Hasak people called “Shaitankirsi”, meaning Devil City. Devil City is northwest, east-west direction, about 5 kilometers long and wide, about 10 square kilometers, about 350 meters above sea level.
For thousands of years, as a result of wind and rain denudation, the ground formed different depths of gullies, the bare stone layer was carved in strange shape by the wind: some bared teeth, like monsters; some dangerous platforms towering, stacking butterflies, shaped like ancient castles; here like pavilions, eaves like the roof; there is like a magnificent palace, proudly standing. It is really colorful and imaginative.
It is said that it is more exciting to camp here at night. Whenever night falls, whenever the wind rises, it is the wind roaring, flying sand and stone, the sky is dim, the strange shadow is lost.
Like the air flow of arrows shuttling between the craftsmen of strange stone mountains, making a shrill sound, such as wolf howling, ghost crying, raging and running among the Gobi platform, like ghosts crying and wolf howling.
The color is rich and heavy, with a long time stamp. A few hundred, what exactly is this place for thousands of years? In front of this natural “Sphinx”, the spirit of nature is amazing! It is detected that there are abundant natural asphalt and deep underground oil in the ghost town, which is a natural resource.
It was observed that during the Cretaceous period more than 100 million flights to shaoxing years ago, it was a huge freshwater lake, with lush plants growing on the shore of the lake, inhabited by Wuerhe sword dragon, snake neck dragon, dinosaur, Junggar pterosaur and other ancient animals. It was a “paradise” where aquarium gathered. After two major crustal changes, the lake became a land Hanhai between sandstone and slate. Geologically, it is called the Gobi platform. In 2018, Devil City was shortlisted for 100 Wonder Northwest.
This is also Xu Ke’s “Seven Sword under Tianshan” shooting site. We stopped here for a while and hurried on. It is a pity that I have not been able to have a good look at the unique beauty of Devil’s City. Every scenic spot has very little time. Most of the time, I am only busy taking pictures without carefully enjoying the beautiful scenery around me.
There was a magical legend about Devil City. It used to be a castle. The men in the castle were handsome and strong, the women were beautiful and kind, and people worked hard and lived a life of plenty of food and clothing. However, with the accumulation of wealth, evil gradually occupies people’s hearts. Everyone began to indulge in play and wine, in order to fight for wealth, the city was full of deceit and bloodshed, everyone’s face became ferocious and scary. In order to arouse people’s conscience, the god came to the castle as a ragged beggar.
God told the people that it was evil that turned him from a rich man to a beggar, but his words didn’t work, but had been reviled and sneered by the people in the castle. The God of the day turned it into ruins, and all the people were crushed under the ruins. Every night, the soul of the dead wails in the castle, and it is the hope that the gods will hear the sound of their confession. Although it is a fairy tale, it is also in the education of the world, to be diligent, to give up to the impatience of life.
